Rome with fambam {what is that)

Been delayed on this post which is supposed to be on last year in July and now already July 2018.

Decided to blog about Rome as I have another trip that I have been postponed to blog about it for the past 1 or 2 years.😂😂 bear with me.

the first plan was supposed to go to Greece, but we totally forgot that its summertime, so all the UK, euro resident will go for a hotter place.so after going through some website we decided that it is too costly to go there. dunno when we will have the chance to go there, maybe when both of us has become grandparents...hahaha


the thing is we just come out with the idea since we are attending my husband graduation in wales, so I said to him why not we pick one place to visit since we are going there and maybe the ticket cheaper if we fly from the  UK.

Plane

we use skyscanner.com to find the  cheapest offer..first we thought of going from London to Rome..but while searching we thought why not we try the nearest airport from Cardiff since we are from there to go directly to Rome.after compare all the cost incurred if using bus /train to go to London and compared to go to Bristol flight to Rome ..so we got the answer. ..if u can avoid flying on weekend is way better... cause weekday ticket is much cheaper ..of course...it only 2 hrs flight from Bristol to touchdown the city of Rome using EasyJet.It is an economical domestic flight such as Air Asia in Malaysia.no food and no entertainment unless you request for it. But we think the journey doesn't need that as it is only a shorter duration.

Luggage

First, we thought maybe it is ok if we are to bring all the luggage to Rome. But after we discuss here and there..since we are with the kids, the stroller n bags, we decided to leave the luggage that not related (we have separately pack for Rome trip in one bag) 😊to bag dropping services at the Rome airport.

If u thought of leaving the luggage n you nak bring only a bag when entering the city u can just leave n rent space at bag dropping counter at the terminal in the area T3 Rome airport.
It will cost you around 6.50 € per day whether the luggage is big or small size, they charge you with the same price.so better plan what to bring and set aside which bag related to your journey especially when you travel with the family. still, consider cheap rather than bring the luggage all around.


From airport Rome flamenco to the city of Rome

There are a Few options (kat sini nak termenung kejap pun ok)

• By bus
• By train 14 euro per person (children free)
• By taxi 50 euro at that time offered by the taxi people(depends on the taxi driver)

We choose Leonardo express. It so fast and it took about 30-minute plus-minus to arrive at Termini station.
It is so convenient and one thing... from the airport terminal T u need to go down using escalator..i wonder where is the lift as we are bringing the stroller and it is quiet bersenam here.

we choose to use the train because we have a baby so we don't want to stay long in a bus. plus children ticket is free too using the train.

the ticket you can just buy there just beside the escalator there is a machine or can also purchase the ticket through a counter.

dont forget to validate your ticket if you dont want to pay extra.

Hotel

We just choose one recommended from Agoda. We wonder why we have to pay daily for aircond usage as its already mention they have an air conditioner in the deal..need to complain about this in the Agoda comment section. It is very near to termini station. we imagine it like a black area or something but it is ok for us. It is really convenient to travel all around the city and easy to find public transportation. but if you want lavish one it is all up to you..for us as long as it easy to find food and easy to reach transportation it is more than good.

Halal food is everywhere so it easy for us. We are not staying for a long vacation so cut short the time for cooking n everything

Food

Varies of food 7-9 euro per meal..n u can share with 2 people...its a lot for me. Halal food is everywhere so it easy for us. We are not staying for a long vacation so cut short the time for cooking n everything.

you can choose if you want to eat local food.there is a lot of choices there

Transportation

If u wanna have a view of the whole city of Rome u can choose one day hop off hop on bus...after that u can just buy 1.50 euro ticket for 100mins or 2 days ticket daily bus to go any place you wanna visit. you can't get the ticket on the bus but usually, you can buy at the convenient store or kedai runcit. This one you can just ask around.

We choose one-day hoho bus. just want to experience how the journey by hoho bus here. since we have tried the Barcelona Hoho bus we thought of trying it in Rome too.

my personal opinion when you have kids in your group, it is easier to move around by using the bus, cause if using the train, sometimes the lift is not there or not in service. here you just go to the termini station, there is a lot of buses to choose to go anywhere in the city.its more kids friendly or stroller friendly to travel by bus besides they can have a view through the journey, the take in takeoff stroller is easier,

So if u wanna bring stroller..be as lightweight as it can..we just bring the umbrella type stroller, it is very lightweight. no need the gigantic big stroller one..the older sister can help you too to move her little sister around.

Season to visit

from my personal opinion especially For ASEAN people, I think not to go during summer season coz is much hotter than someplace in our country, since we are going for sightseeing, maybe it is nicer if you can make it during autumn, spring but it is up to you..the weather during our trip its dry and the cloud it is hardly seen in the sky unless u love to sunbathing..

Mineral water

since it is summer, mineral water is very much important, hahaha...
Better buy a bulk of 6 big mineral water which is cheaper than buying the small want which cost u around .80 to 1 euro. maybe u just want to have drinking water from the drinking fountain along the street (never tried that). some local might advise you not to buy from the Bangladeshi that is selling around near the historical place cause they said afraid if it is not clean water, but it is up to you then again.we just bought from them...n eventually it is ok for us...

pickpocket

this is a usual thing happen to any country right.so far I face it in Paris and Granada, but luckily they failed to get anything, maybe because I have prayed along the journey and my mouth keeps on praying to avoid anything bad happen. typical mum 😂😂😂

this one you yourself need to take care of your thing, just remember, be nice to people, have a positive mind and keep praying 😉😉 and just be careful.

Tour guide do u need or not?

We have tried having a tour guide in Vatican city..but we did not enjoy it as it is very fast..n note the place is not so stroller friendly .we are so lucky that other people in the group who help us during goes up and down the stairs. we thought it is better we go by our self rather than following the tour guide..or maybe if you can afford children friendly tourist guide, why not.

If it is not mistaken if u buy the ticket online when you go for example colloseum, Vatican city and so on u may request to join the tour guide by email and sending to them.and they will reply if there is space for u.i just notice about this.although we quite regret getting a tourist guide for the Vatican city,we are glad as we have experienced it. if you want to proceed without the tourist guide also can...



Best apps to arrange your vacation

 there is a lot of application that can help you to plan your vacation, I have used visit city apps, and I can recommend it as one of the good apps to use.but for the ticket I use a certain website to buy a cheaper ticket. for example, to go to Colosseum and Vatican city.

Besides that, the apps can suggest your day by day place to visit according to your allocation time, day and preferred a place to go. It also provided a map that telling you the duration of time from place to one place according to your point of start walking. Cool right.?

Packing list to Iceland-women things

After numbers of travelling with kids, I will in general pack without an excessive amount of idea, however when it came to what to pack for Iceland, I discovered it fairly overwhelming.boleh pulak blur packing for myself..... I'm not used to heading out to extremely chilly places (you mean subzero ? )and I additionally realized that the climate there is renowned for being flighty or inconsistent. In any case, I did my research and wound up with a perfect packing list for Iceland. To spare you the inconvenience, this is what I carried with me. This is my 7 days in Iceland suggestion for clothing in January winter trips and I hope it suits you too.

1.    Winter coat –either with fleece attached or separately

2.    Fleece jacket -1

3.    Fleece Legging-2

4.    Thermal legging-1 just for additional layering

5.    Waterproof pant-1

14.    Shoe spike-definitely a yes yes to bring because you might walk on a slippery surface.I bought a pair of shoe spike at the store. It really helps!!

15.    Hand glove-waterproof or you can have it with the touch screen gloves for taking pictures      ( you wouldn’t want to take pictures with a bare hand)

16.    Snow hat /mouth cover because if the wind is strong you will freeze your face and mouth (karang beku mulut hidung)

17.    Scarf

18.    Portable charger( important)

you might want to add any extra little things such as medicine (flu/fever/stomach-ache/dizzy) any related to your health things, extra foldable bag, waterproof cover for your equipment’s (camera/go pro)

If you want to look different each day just pakat la with your friend to exchange the jacket or the scarf to give different hues to your look. (up to you la)

Make sure the colour is bright as it is winter. (You know what I mean).

There are numbers of tour available you can definitely check it.

We book a car through blue car rental (a 4x4-wheel car )as we feel more confident to drive in this kind of trip (and weather).

I took travel insurance from ETIQA takaful travel. my other friends took AXA, Chubb travel insurance. But after some delayed of our flight and luggage, I found out that Etiqa takaful travel insurance satisfied my claim above all the other insurance.(i already explain in another post)sila ambil travel insurance

Since we have discovered the apps for searching Aurora, we do recommend you to upload it on your phone. It will alert you when is the time of the Aurora passing by, where is the nearest place for you to search for it..definitely the best and reliable!

you may need to always check for the latest weather and safety report while you on the road.is and few other websites.

Our connecting flight has left us. While we were running like crazy to catch it...

I am seriously thinking do we have to go through this long route including pass through the customs counter for the next connecting flight where you have only like 10 minutes in between your landing and the boarding time for the next trip?

 we choose KLM to fly us from KL to Oslo to go to Iceland by Icelandair..why we choose this offer ? of course because it is cheaper  at the time bought the ticket

It was my first-time experience with KLM.

we thought that the route and the connecting flight departing time that we have bought should be no problem since it was suggested on the web by KLM.

the real landing time in Amsterdam is at  6 am...and the next flight boarding time is 6.20a.m....double woww...

We thought since they already suggest the departure time..so The next flight may be just a few gates nearby...

the original plan was we will arrive in Oslo at 8.30am but that if only we depart with the initial flight time that has left us just now...

ok, the next rebooked flight is at 9.30 am..and guess what I am the last person got it...

oh, madam, u are lucky that was the last seat for 9.30 am flight to Oslo....

apala nasib mamat yg tadi yg miss flight jugak sama time with us all...

can we make it by noon since we have another flight to Iceland and...not finishing my sentence

so why on earth you KLM guys plan the connecting flight in within 10 minutes and expecting us to catch in this humungous airport...

so who is going to pay if we miss our next flight..and we can't get the luggage before next boarding time

maybe you can ask Icelandair to pick up the luggage and bring with you to Iceland when you arrive in Olso...

after back and forth to the KLM crew counter..we asked them to be responsible and ask them to make an instruction to their crew in Oslo to transmit the luggage to Icelandair since our flight already delayed and we won't be able to wait for the bags to check in together to Iceland...

takkan nak beli the Iceland ticket just because to wait for the luggage kut...

ok, we can do that, but we can't guarantee the luggage will be with you.

So if this happens to you guys..please be proactive..don't just keep quiet ...redo tu penting..but what is next action... it's up to you

we know maybe because they expect the customer has their travel insurance to cover this

this is the first time we able to claim travel insurance

for flight delay and luggage delay

and apparently, now we know that  you can claim for flight delay if the delay start from 6 hours only  ..this applies to a policy with Axa and Chubb insurance.

But for myself, I took Etiqa travel insurance. They covered for the flight delay for more than 2 hrs.

So I able to claim for flight delay but my friend can't claim since their insurance can only be claimed if the flight delay more than 6 hours.

nasib la ambil travel insurance.....

if you doubt to take or not to take the travel insurance...

based on our experience..we reckon you to take..or if you are not sure you can google on something like this whenthiswhen-you-can-skip-travel-insurance-and-when-you-should-buy

you can take the lowest or the highest coverage base on your preference...

If nothing happens its good for you and if something happens good for you also..

the funny and geram part is..when we arrived in Oslo..our luggage not in the collection area yet..it has been a delay...

so can you imagine if we wait for the luggage and miss the Icelandair flight...double trouble..and you can't claim if you decide to wait to get your bags and go through the check-in process...and miss your next flight...

when I emailed to KLM to claim the delayed luggage

they refuse to do so as they said Iceland air is the last fright that we took...dia bagi la policy airline bla...bla.....

so they said Icelandair is responsible..but when I emailed to Icelandair they response and explained on the event happened whereby when we arrived in Oslo to depart to Iceland.our luggage doesn't come together when we boarding with KLM from Amsterdam and our luggage arrived in the Iceland airport in the middle of the night where clearly the baggage does not depart to along with us from Amsterdam to Oslo...

ye the KLM said its Icelandair responsible...dude?

lagi tak mengaku pulak dia delaykan luggage...

bayangkan if we wait at the bag belt and miss our next flight and the truth are our bags has been delayed.

come to think about it...ada juga hikmah nya...dpt claim insurance..

Many travel venture I have skipped, but will try to challenge myself to keep on writing about it. Hopefully, I still remember the itinerary....#siscuba..but this I cant skipped anymore to tell you about ...

I'm just excited to share my previous travel trip with my girls' friend aka #girlstrip. This gonna be the first ever trip after having my 3 Lovely daughters. It is actually just a quick call from my bestie asking whether I could join her with 2 other friends to Iceland....and I was like Iceland what?

 I'm just laughing, and she continues saying she got an email offer saying that there is a discount offer to go there...blah bla..bla...so without knowing what am I going to do there?

'ok, I will ask my en hubby whether he is ok to take care of my girls '... I replied

I have a dream la to go to Switzerland with my bestie...just because I love to see that drama Cinta Jangan Pergi...hahhaa....berangan but apparently not happening yet, so I was thinking ok, la Iceland as long as I have a girls trip...

I have a sceptical mind where I don't think my hubby gonna let me go as he is so busy with his work .so when I asked him.

So being a good friend... I was just listening to my friend plan. I totally have no idea what are we going to do, the itinerary and so on...

I want to see the northern light you know the aurora the green light? and then we go to Dilwale location the Hindi film...the one shah rukh and Kajol...and so on so off...

of course, as a fan of the Hindi movie especially Shahrukh-Kajol movie definitely a go plan...hahaha

Ooh ok... I just agree .. I only need a girl trips u see...

Since we go there early in February and it is still winter..we might be facing some road closure and rearrange the plan..so we decided to go for a golden ring journey rather than ring road journey, and of Course, I intend to be safe and enjoy the trip and why the rush?. Iceland, the driver, is on the left, so this is going to be the first time driving on the left side plus icy road...whos driving... of course not me.

So where is the northern light?

From the first night, we have no idea how to search it (actually, I am not that excited at first .. I just want to enjoy travelling), and we only bluntly refer to one other blog that we have read, and refer the approximate time that they have seen the aurora borealis which is around 4am.

Like seriously we have no idea on how to search for it..we have visited the weather forecast web that shows the aurora information...

hahaha... the situation is quite funny cause we are like some silly girls go out from our hostel and randomly drive anywhere and look at the sky...and it is -13C.sejuk giler

Nevermind, but this is the sweetest, funniest thing that happens to us so that we can appreciate more.

Me myself who doesn't have an interest at first to search for it has become more excited after talking to another traveller next door telling that they went out around 12 am that night to see the northern light.

Even though my friend without fail keeps on waking us telling to giddy up ready to go out and hunting for the Aurora.

Where did you see it? i asked our cottage neighbour  alamak ..why o why we didn't wake up last night..tido mati ...

just drive out 5 minutes...he continued explaining.

Oh ok...denggg... I said to my self while recalling how comfortable I have slept that night because we been everywhere during the day time.....and it's so freaking cold....ok I need to blame that cosy small the cottage which contributes to my comfortable sleep...hahhaha

meanwhile, my friend keeps on mumbling...(u know the one who keeps waking us up at 1-2 am)

That's why I already wake Normah... I got the reminder that aurora showing up last night on my phone...

me and aza just smiling to each other because we were already telling each other to wake up at 3am.....but you know... the combination of the heat, blanket and after eating the delicious food, you tend to terbabas in sleep...

nevermind girls maybe tonight we got to see the aurora...

but then later we use these apps which more accurate where it will notify you the time to see it based on your location...how cool is that...

After 2- days using it, then only I understand that Aurora actually passes by and cover the whole island of Iceland, so we need to find an area with clear skies, no snowy turun, no rain(of course rain is with the cloud) hahaha...

It will show which area is cloudy and which area has clear skies .and it will tell you the possible rate to see it from no 0 to 9...the the more significant number indicating the possibility to see aurora also more prominent. So they said the key is a clear sky and dark...but first, make sure your travel time is within the month that aurora happen.

But afraid not if you won't be able to see the aurora, Iceland is still a beautiful place to go to despite its first name Ice. It is a beauuuuuutiful place behind the name.

I must admit that, although it is freezing during winter where my friends and I experience the weather down to -14C ..subzero as they said.

Iceland has beautiful scenery during this time (sometimes I feel whether I am dreaming or am I looking at the desktop picture?)I found it worthy plus we able to tick all of our bucket lists...yeayyyyyyy...

How do we found it.. of course, you wouldn't know what sign that you will see..but definitely keep looking on the sky when the sky is apparent especially in less light or dark area.

The first aurora that we saw is only  5 minutes from our BnB in Hella. We saw its first appearance as a grey line...

It Starts dancing its colour in front of us...quickly park our rented car...and enjoy the scenery...and did I tell you guys its -14C...

We waited until the aurora cover all above our sky...... crayyzee man.... but it worthy...

do you need to book a tour to see aurora borealis aka northern light?

Definitely up to you especially if you have the budget or more to spare. There is a lot of tour group available to see the aurora ....we just decided to find it by ourselves and only to the information from the apps, and the web for information .....nak save budget kan...

what do you need to take northern light aka aurora borealis pictures

Smart phone-iPhone, Huawei(Samsung-x sempat nk pakai cause we are so excited to see the dancing aurora)sorry Samsung...

DSLR-me using Lumix (i just love because besides using the manual mode Lumix also have a ready-made setting to take pictures of Aurora even though it did not state that) I just try..and besides able to take the Aurora borealis picture I was able to take the stargazing picture too.

and of course we, not a pro...

how to video aurora borealis

Sorry, I wasn't able to explore that first. Maybe you need to ask the expert.

we do see the green and the colourful aurora too..and it showing its intense colour.

Do we need to go far?

Up to you.....we are lucky to experience it just a few minutes from our bnb .... definitely just use that app...

SERIOUSLY THIS APPS HELPS A LOT TO FIND AURORA!!!...

and it will keep notify you when is the best time to search for aurora...what you need to do is keep looking on the clear sky except for the driver...hahaha..but must make sure no cloud..clear..dark...but in our case..we still saw it even near to the city centre itself...

And it is winter in February. It is -14C  at night to be exact

I can hear my voice, but I can't feel my mouth moving....numb.....but when we see aurora borealis northern light and stargazing together...

We feel satisfied...at least we think it that way while remembering the journey that we had experienced...

So nak pergi Switzerland tak...but for now... I am thankful did this trip to Iceland...
